Boys of the Top 24

It’s begun! Idolisms 2012 has just stepped in the building… bringing the Idol truths to your doorstep. We’re about to blow this whole thing up together! It’s time for the battle to begin and the competition is looking very nice this season. Some real bloodhounds about to step up to the microphone and belt out melodic symphonies, while teeny boppers ponder whose number they will text in. Remember, it’s who has the LEAST votes who gets

THE BOOT

It’s dudes tonight. Let’s go

Seacrest’s hair: Friggin’ amazing! What I would do to have a sack of hair like that! The gelled bristles of perfection. That side part is luscious! Look at the way he gets the gel in the nooks and crannies!

The Judges
LOOKING GOOD, LOOKING GOOD!

Reed Grimm: I really like this guy a lot and I think he’s got a very catchy sound, but those close ups of his schnoz have got to go. He’s got a little Rudolph the red nose pimple scar…. Must have been a big one! He sings Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger”. Ballsy choice. The song is off the charts and everyone knows it! He’ll be scrutinized extra. He makes it different. He sexies it up with the little hooks. And he of course eventually creeps his way to the drums. But I love the whole jazz component he incorporates to any song he sings.

The judges liked his rendition too but weren’t so yaya. Randy liked the drums, J Lo thought it was a great start to the show, Steven loved it. He’s not going anywhere yet… Way to start off the show Reed!

Adam Brock: from PA. They show him in the kitchen cooking up some chicken. Dude’s a jack of all trades! He’s a family man, a chef and a singer. And he refers to himself as white chocolate? Ehhh I don’t know about that… If I wind up hating this guy I’m calling him The Bearded Goblin. Sings “Freedom”. He feels old and uncurrent. He is talented but not for this show. He’s also a crybaby…. Uber Soft!
Even though I didn’t love the performance, Steven called it brilliant, J Lo loved his finish and Randy loved the throwback vibe.

Kris Humphries brother is up next. His name is Deandre Brackinston but we are calling him Lil Keke. This guy is one of my faves from the audition. He reminds me of Mili Vanilli a little except he’s got actual pipes and not those lip sync pipes. Young stud, senior in high school, bi-racial. He is singing Earth, Wind and Fire’s “Reasons”.  Not smart for teen bop voteage. His falsetto was a little much… I thought he could’ve taken it back a little. He also has crazy split ends but the girls definitely feel on the Lil Keke booty. He’s safe. I was disappointed in the performance, except the big high note he hit in the end.

J Lo said he Keke was perfect. Steve said he picked the right song to showcase his voice, and Randy called him one of the most commercial guys he has seen.

Colton Dixon: His sister was hot and hated him, so that was fun. He’s a music man, the piano man, even ukelele. Cool ass hair! He is trying to elevate his Seacrest hair game. He is singing Paramore’s “Decode” Rock on! He plays the piano and I am really digging this guys sound. His hair kind of look like a skunk just sat on top of his head, but I can dig it. His voice and stage presence takes over, and I really liked it when he starts dancing on the piano! He’s got a lot of possibilities.

Randy calls it indie rocker and liked it, and calls him relevant, Steven says to keep rocking and Jenny;

Don’t be fool by the rocks that she’s got… she’s still Jenny from the block.

Jeremy Rosado: His ear lobes are so fluffy! I WANT TO PET!!! But I like this guy from the audition and think his chubby cheeks and unbelievable ear lobes will keep him around. He also works at an Infectious Disease clinic….. weird! But he says the diseased people that walk in love him because he is so loveable! His voice is the real deal. He’s got a sensual swagger, sounds soft, sweet, FUZZY!!!
Wait, are we talking about his ear lobes or his voice? I’m a fan of this Rosado kid… forgetaboutit

Steve says it was as beautiful as beautiful gets, J Lo called him a care bear!! Loved that. And Randy was impressed with the tenderness, and said “I love you”. But I don’t think the audience loved him that much. Possible bootage.

Steven is as “confused as a baby in a topless bar.”

Aaron Marcellus: he’s from the ATL, where the pimps and the players dwell. He teaches voice lessons so he better know how to sing! I liked some of his auditions, but he doesn’t have much spark to him. Jackson 5, “Never Can Say Goodbye”. Great song, showed off his voice, but it was meh. Interesting hat, and what was with the pants with the duct tape on them???? I liked it when he hit falsetto a lot but he just wasn’t that exciting.

Randy said he had crazy runs (down his leg), J Lo said Randy said “boy can sing”, and Steve says he is the whole package… I disagree. Boot.

Chase Likens: Goes to Marshall like Randy Moss did, and Randy doesn’t write checks…. he uses straight cash, homie. Chase is a country boy and is hoping to be a good looking version of Scotty McCreery. I’m not a huge country fan, but I like this guy. I didn’t like Scotty one bit last year, and he won. So I’m keeping it real with the country this year and feel that since the finalists last year were both country singers, the country folk viewership will be even more off the Richter Scale.

Steven calls him a cowboy that looks like Brendan Frasier.. He does! J Lo said he sounded great, Randy says he’s ready. We’ll see.

Creighton Fraker: Former street performer, talks like a woman. He parties in the back (the makings of a mullet). I liked the dude in Hollywood week but something threw me off tonight, and it’s not because he’s gay. I don’t discriminate. He is singing “True Colors.”  I’m sorry, but the rat tail chode on laying on his upper neck bothers me. I  know he has a good voice, but I’ll never be on the same page.

J Lo talks about him going home already, Steven called it stupendous, and Randy says he has the voice. Nothing special. And I’m Not digging this Fraker cat, so Boot.

Philip Philips: Ha, Philly Philly! Works at a pawn shop… Got gold?
Phil is singing Phil, “In the Air Tonight” (which now just reminds of Mike Tyson singing it in The Hangover.) I’m a fan of Phil Phil. He’s a lot like Dave Matthews, how he holds his guitar, certain expressions he makes and how he gets into it while strumming. Unfortunately, I think his style might not be that welcomed. He can’t decide between jam band, alternative and jazz, and none of which a bop of a teener will vote for.

J Lo said they were talking about him after the auditions, Steven said he hits his stride and Randy didn’t love the remake of the melody. Randy also steals my Dave Matthews idea……Poss boot.

Eben Frankowicz: 15 year old young buck from Cinci. Really didn’t like him at first, but he grew on me when I saw he was paired off with David Leathers, the 17 year old-10 year old…. Kid annoyed me. Eben sings Adele “Set Fire to the Rain”. He sounds like a girl because he doesn’t have hair on his wiener. Wait a minute…. If you have hair on your wiener, you have a problem! But more on Eben, he did not sound good and , but still got a huge crowd response. He is trying to look like Bieber with his hair, and that frightens me because the little girls might vote him in and which would cause him to stick around.
Randy said he was calm and collected, J Lo says he held on and Steven says his melody was pitchy. Seems like a sweet boy, but Boot.

HEEJUN! I love this guy! He is hysterical the way he looks at the camera with his goofy ass looks and how he is real sarcastic and keeps can put on the straight face. He’s possibly a genius, and his voice is good too. He is singing “Angel” He needs to kill it to rock the Asian vote, and he was pretty smooth, but he was just alright, and I’ve seen much better. Not his greatest performance,  and I’ll be sad to see if it causes him to not advance.

J Lo and Steven didn’t think it was the right song, and Randy agreed, however he said he was ‘mad talented’. He might get it.

Joshua Ladet aka Mantasia. He’s a Louisiana boy, and misses his down south cooking.  He is rocking a fresh scarf; in LA. I remember this guy having some prime time moments in Hollywood week, where he shined. He is singing “You Pulled Me Through” I think he’s got a killer voice and I loved it how the audience got into it with the clap. Helped carry him. I thought he was outstanding. Reminded me Kirk Franklin, and he definitely got me swaying back and forth.

The judges agreed! And they gave him a standing ovation. Your boy is on the money. Randy said,
YO      DUDE……..YO MAN.
LISTEN.
YO! YO DUDE, LISTEN!!!!!
YO    MAN     YO. BRO!
YO……… YO. Dude.
LISTEN         DUDE YO.   YO
Randy loved him, J Lo said he was insanely talented and Steve says he has the voice the world has been waiting to here. Josh will be sticking around.

They then pull the old switcheroo and brought back someone who hadn’t made it. It’s Jermaine! Jermaine Jones. Crybaby with a baritone! He’s the gentle giant as Seacrest said. Nice guy! Deep voice with that bassoon like tone. Lissppp.
Dude is towering over Seacrest, and it’s really funny!! Check it:

But of course Seacrest is still a powerhouse hunk, even at 5’3”.

Jermaine is singing Luther Vandross’s “Dance With My Father”. He seemed really nervous while singing, but I was really excited he was singing Luther. He is definitely likeable, and he sounded good. But I’m not sure how much voting action he’ll be getting. Randy said it was nice, J Lo thanked him for coming back, and Steve said the usual beautiful.

WOW, solid start guys… this show was a banger! But a lot of dudes have got to go. It’s a must that we weed out the nimrods. It's time to trim the fat. I want our contestants to be lean and mean. Fierce! Idolisms doesn’t have the time for mediocrity and I’m expecting these contestants to step their game up and get better each and every time I watch them perform. 6 will slip it on (the boot, not a condom).

What an awesome night! IDOLISMS ROCKS MY WORLD!!!!

See you tomorrow tonight. Can’t wait to watch the girls spank the planks.

Final Judgement…..PART II

It's the FINAL JUDGEMENT PART II!!!!

Adam Brock: Real cliffhanger… Would idol actually have a delay between episodes just to show a grown man crying and then not even make it? Of course he was gonna make it! Duh. But, he’s good too. The production staff aren’t idiots… They featured the hell out of Brock, which surely attracted a few extra potential voters. Though, I'm not so nuts.

Jeremy Fassano: I remember this guys audition… impressive as hell. Real dope falsetto! He reminds me of one of the vocalists in a Platinum Big Pun song. He’s got that big soft guy love and it emits through his voice. Also, his ear lobes are so soft and fluffy! They’re pillowy, and I bet they’re fuzzy too! Knew he’d make it, but I see him choking early on, although I’d like to see more of him.

Shannon Magran: This girl was an absolute lock. She’s 16, real pretty, and her voice kicks ass…. Teeny boppers are going to eat her up! Oh, and if she gets the boot, she may have a career in the WNBA (She’s listed at 6’6”, but she’s really more like 5’11”.) But I’m calling this one folks… We will absolutely be seeing her around for a while and I know I’ve said that, like, about everyone but I am extra confident on this one.
Am I going soft? NO!!!! I need to get mean again.

Remember what Steven Tyler said to her Dad??? HOT, HUMID AND HAPPENING…..Yeah! Just like your daughter! Hilarious, Steven. Really though! He’d a got his ass beat if he wasn’t a Hall of Fame Rockstar.

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJLbHrHlHgk&feature=related

Now, I don’t want to talk much about the “BOOT CREW”, but I must acknowledge one;
(For the newbies to Idolisms that don’t that don’t understand the ‘boot’ references:  People that don’t make it, or eventually, people that get voted off….Got it?... I feel smart now!)
Let’s holler at a playa Scotty Dangerfield…. Even being the grandson of the late Rodney, and rocking a sick throwback COOGI sweater, he still got the boot...

Skyler Lane: Cute little country singer girl. J Lo said she reminded her of Reba McIntyre, which I see too. But I don’t see her making it far. With girls like Bailey Brown and Chelsea in it, I see her as behind in the pack. Good for her though, I’m glad she made it because she seems like a nice person.

Here are some folks they didn't feature, but also made it:

Hallie Day

Chase Likens

Aaron Marcellus (one of my darkhorses. This dude is the truth)

DeAndre Brackinson: Love this guy! Kris Humphries little brother?  With long curly hair. For real though, I think this guy has a killer falsetto and is WELL deserving to make the top 24, and I strongly feel he’ll be around for possibly top 10 and probably better…. Because he looks like Kris Humphries. And Kris is NICE!!!! So is Dre…..on the mic that is. See Dre:

See Kris:

Last up: 3 teen bop gals, 2 teen bop guys:

Shelby
Arielle
Holly

Holly Cavanaugh makes it. I honestly don’t remember her much at all, and I was also rooting for Shelby to make it, who had the most touching story of the batch and I thought would bring in the most viewers and gather the most teeny bopper votes. Holly won’t go far.

Two boys: David and Eben

David Leathers Jr., Outspoken and confident, chiclet teeth, looks like the guy from Mad TV…. I blogged about him a couple weeks ago.. Ripped him up, but praised him on singing Celine Dion, and doing a great job…. But, Yo CHECK IT, dude is 17 years old and looks like he is 10! I was sick of him before he ever sang, I wanted no part, and poof.....he's gone.

Eben Frencewitz: Poss tribal? Not sure. But he was for sure the better of the two. More humble and legit. The dude Leathers is a cartoon. Premature as hell, dog! I’m happy with Eben but I don’t think he should go far. But if the teenies dig Beiber hairdo then he has a better chance than even the more talented contestants.

Well folks, That rounds out our top 24! Two very healthy nights in a row of results. Much more to come. The real deal begins next week! Get geared up now, it's gonna be a banger! Or as J LO's word of choice from last season, it's gonna be AMAZING!!!!

Picture me in Seacrest's shoes some day.........
Brilliant, mate!

Final Judgement….. PART I

Hey Idolismers!

The Idolismologists and I have been putting our heads together, trying to determine who is in it to win it, and who deserves a crack at the top 24.... Very Solid first judgment night! They chose over half of the top 24... Here is the first batch... and it's a solid one.

Girls:

Jen Hirsch – tribal? Never saw her have a slip up in any of her auditions. I’m feelin’ her! Very solid.

Haley Johnson – surprised she made it. Nice country voice, Lauren Alaina kicks her ass though.

Elise Testone: Real powerful tone, huge voice, big potential to be a top 10.

Erica Van Pelt: Powerful voice, brovado. Not one of the stronger ones that made it, but still a nice voice on her. Didn't grab a pic of her.

Chelsea: Country singer, attractive... no Pia, but still nice. She screwed up in her last performance and she still got in. They like her, I do too. She won’t crack top 12 though.

Bailey Brown: Blonde country girl, pretty. Full package, Very strong voice, very strong contender. I think she might go very far in this... Perhaps top top 5? Her name even sounds like a famous country star! I'm a big Bailey Brown fan.

Jessica Sanchez: Only 16. She’s got a great voice and is well deserving to make the top 24.

Brielle: Saw her true colors in group week. Control freak, narcissistic, ego driven. Yet, she has a really cool voice... a little scratchy, kind of sexy. I knew she would make, she deserved it, but she’s kind of a bitch.

Boys:

Creighton Fraker- Starving artist, New York hippie rocker gospel cat. Interesting, unique, he sort of has a pompador afro mullet partying in the back..... but I'll try and look past it because he's artistic.... I'll let it slide.

Josh Ledee – looks like he is wearing a breath right strip. Real great voice, gospelly, raspy, powerful. Reminds me of a skinny, possibly straight Jacob Lusk. Didn't grab a pic, sorry.

Reed Grimm- What a character! Qwerky, goofy looking, scatting, awesome, funny, chill dude. He’s an entertainer, and a helluva musician, but is his voice his greatest instrument? Tough not to like this kid… he’s very charismatic and talented. No surprise at all that he is going through, a for certain top 10.

Richie Cowboy-thank god he didn’t make it…Creep

Heejoon: Friggin’ love this guy. Just seems like a warm person, considerate, great sarcasm. Love it that he helps brings some diversity to the competition, and most importantly, a really nice tone to his voice, and someone I hope sticks around for a very long time. Not sure he will, but he’s a crowd fave... that’s for sure.

Philip Philips: Cool name for one. I’ve liked this guy from the very beginning. He’s like a laid back hippie dude, but he seems like he  could tweak at any moment and break out an uzi and blast all 3 judges.... Weird! So unique, really cool voice, combination of a bunch of singers, Dave Matthews/Daughtry/Ben Harper/John Mayer. No surprise he made it but not sure how much America will feel on him. He is not mainstream and his uniqueness may scare away teeny boppers, but I’m a believer.

Colton: Sweet hair with the blonde streak. Nice falsetto’s and is a cool kind of david grey punk rock dude on the piano. He’s smooth. He will get votes toward top 12 because he is the Adam Lambert looking guy of this year.

Adam Brock: Creative arts director guy, cool raspy voice. A very soulful cat. Oh, of course, they put us on a cliffhanger and we find out tomorrow if he makes it, and who of the rest of this quality batch of singers will crack the rest of the top 24.

We'll see you tomorrow for the second night of Final Judgement!

Idol Performance Challenge Hit's Sin City!

Top o’ the morning Idolismers!

Last night’s “Performance Challenge” in Sin City was off the chain! I’m really impressed with the talent this year. We’re trudging through this audition process, and you can really start to tell who is the real deal. It’s exciting!
You know how Randy said to the room of losers, “this is the toughest competition I’ve seen in the 11 years I’ve been on the show…” Says it every year… and you know all of the shattered contestants he’s telling it to think it’s a load of horse, but who really cares, they’re outta here! Watch them skate away, say “Later dude!” There better contestants out there that are more mashed potato smooth….
But for real, their are some legit contestants out there. I see quite a few darkhorses and many singers that are ready to punish their microphone...

Here's a picture of our fresh to death judges, who in this picture look like they're asleep...

It’d be nice for me to run through all of the performances, but I’m saving my juicy and delicious commentary for when the real show begins, when America gets to vote..... I also don't want to shoot my load too early.....ha! Oy...

WHO IS IN IT TO WIN IT???

Memorable cats:

Reed Grimm: Goofy guy, seems funny and very charismatic. Great stage presence and voice. Beatbox abilities, a little scat scat scat scat scat (I’m a Scatman!) I like him, but what is the deal with his Rudolph the red nose? Yes for sure he has a schnoz (and I don’t believe he’s in the tribe), but his nose is always bright red as if he’s been rubbing it all day. It all up in your grill whenever he is on the screen! But more importantly, I think he will make it. But if he doesn’t, he can go back to being a nanny, which is what he actually does.

Young buck, Evan: with his lipstick kisses on his face. No rhythm, looked stiff and sounded fruity. Nice kid, but he’ll GET THE BOOT, soon. The group carried him and that’s the only reason he advanced….. He sounds like a skin flute. Here's Evan:

I enjoyed the Cowboy and Jermaine Jones duet. Two baritone voices, had you wonder, how is this going to sound? I wasn’t sure if they’d be able to pull it off, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Jermaine Jones has a very warm Luther Vandross-esque voice… It’s deep, baby.
And the Cowboy is really a trip! He is all affectionate and overly affectionate and would put his arm around Jermaine any chance he could get! Pat him on the shoulder, rub his shoulder, compliment him, and playfully tap him, try and shake his hand, rub him again… hilarious! Went overboard with it, touchy, feely.... creepy.
Have a gander at this picture of one of the 56 times Cowboy groped poor Jermaine:

I don’t think he is gay, just an awkard nerd, nice well mannered guy who means well and rocks a Cowboy hat.... But vocally, the Cowboy is nowhere near Scotty McCreery…. Yes, they wear the same hat, and yes I hated Scotty, aka Bobby from King of the Hill, and now I wouldn't minding stomping the new cowboy's face in the stage with my own cowboy boot! But I'll just relax.... He’ll be getting the boot from Steven Tyler and Company soon, so for now, I will just continue to laugh at him…. …
like the Asian Michael Bolton guy, Heejoon Lee did… He was funny as hell! Ripped on the Cowboy any chance he could get. It was hysterical at how great the production portrayed him. Classic! I hope to be seeing more of this guy…Not just because he is funny, but because he really has a nice voice! And I feel he will help Idol grow even more, by bringing an Asian viewership. KONICHIWA BITCHES!

The slick pony tails guys were weird as hell… Skeeved me out. They sang Elvis’s “Jailhouse” and looked like corny as hell. Great choreography, but a little too theatrical for me. I was surprised 3 of the 4 made it through.

Ummm... no.

Wow, omg… You won't believe this... My DVR jacked me up! An interruption during the recording and it stopped recording halfway through!
Damnit man, I missed the whole second half of the show... that’s irked up! I’m pretty salty, but I guess I’m grateful I got to see some of it and hope all of you were able to catch it to it’s entirety. There is definitely some more talent out there that I’m sure would’ve struck my fancy, but it’s all gravy baby… more contestants for us to acknowledge in the next entry, so stay tuned and strap it on, because we are living it up in the wonderful world of Idolisms!

Keep on bringing your game. If you’re not in it to win it, then exit stage left.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hollywood Night II: The Stage Dive

Hollywood Week in the world of Idolisms. Batter up:

Awesome first two nights!  The solo night is great, the chance to pick out your contenders, the darkhorses, the people you want to kill. Last night was the group night. The group night is always entertaining. This is where you get to see the personalities of the contestants... Who is the dick? Who is the doormat? Who is a natural leader?

Who will be the next American Idol?  Sorry, I know..... corny as hell, but it's just gotta be asked.

So in last nights show, as usual, we start off the night with a delicious Seacrest recount of last night's highlights...  In one part of the clip, we see 16 year old Simone Black singing (she had an unbelievable voice) and then she finishes up starts to answer a question from Randy, when all of a sudden.....

Her knees started buckling and she starts losing her breath.........she starts breaking out into a sweat and is dizzily hobbling forward...She faints and falls off the stage! Whoa!!! Was this for real??? She literally passes out and takes a mean header off the stage! It was very creepy and sort of freaked me out.... quite the shocker!
My heart goes out to Simone and I hope she's doing well now....... but am I a sicko if I rewinded my DVR over 10 times to watch it over and over again and see the reactions on the judges face??? I don't want you to think I'm a horrible person... I'm not the type of guy that laughs at someone getting hurt, but the shock value of this and the reactions on the judges face were priceless.

Here is a very solid iPhone camera snipe of their reactions:

Oh, what's that? You really want to see it now? No need to youtube it...

Simone Black takes a header!

In case the link doesn't work, I got your back:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_ByIIsIeeU

Have a great weekend and always stay tuned in to find out what's popping off in the world of Idolisms!
